Memorial Table and Photo Display Planner
A strong memorial display tells a small number of stories well. It does not need every photograph and possession the family can find.
Short answer
A strong memorial display tells a small number of stories well. It does not need every photograph and possession the family can find.
Choose a few anchors
- One framed portrait people can recognize from across the room.
- Several photographs from different stages of life.
- One or two meaningful objects, not an entire collection.
- A small label if an object’s significance is not obvious.
Protect irreplaceable items
Do not leave fragile, valuable or unique items where they can be knocked over or disappear. Use copies of precious photographs if possible.
Give setup to someone else
Pack the display in one labeled box with a simple photo of how you want it arranged. Then another person can set it up without asking the family ten questions.
