Plan the wedding without letting it consume everything else.
Wedding planning can quietly expand until every evening, conversation and spare dollar belongs to the event. A good plan includes limits.
Four boundaries worth deciding early
Money boundary
Choose the ceiling before browsing upgrades. Do not use “average wedding cost” as permission to spend money you do not have.
Time boundary
Choose specific planning windows and at least one evening or day when wedding decisions are off limits.
Family boundary
Listen respectfully, then decide who actually has decision authority. Money offered with conditions should be discussed clearly before it is accepted.
Relationship boundary
Have conversations in which the wedding is not the subject. The marriage is not the reward for successfully managing an event.
A useful phrase when opinions multiply
“Thank you. We’re still working out what fits our budget and what matters most to us. We’ll let you know when we’ve decided.”
