Simple and clear

What should we put on a baptism or christening invitation?

Include the child's name, type of service, date, time, church or venue, and any reception information. If the church service is open to a wider congregation, explain clearly where guests should meet you.

Warm traditional wording

With joy, we invite you to join us for the baptism of [Name] on [date] at [time] at [church]. Please join us afterwards for [lunch / refreshments] at [place].

Simple family wording

Please join our family as we celebrate [Name]'s [baptism / christening / dedication] on [date] at [time]. The service will be held at [church], followed by [reception details].

If the service is part of regular worship

[Name] will be [baptized / christened / dedicated] during the [time] service at [church] on [date]. We would love you to be there with us. Please arrive by [time / instruction], and join us afterwards for [reception].

Check the church wording first. Different traditions use baptism, christening, dedication and sponsorship language differently. Use the language of the congregation hosting the service.
