After Pregnancy Loss: What Do We Do Next?
There is no single correct way to mark a pregnancy loss. Immediate medical care comes first, then the family can decide what information, rituals, privacy and support are right for them.

Medical questions come first
Follow the treating clinician’s guidance about what to expect physically, follow-up, warning signs and when to seek urgent care. This page cannot replace that medical advice.
Reduce communication
Choose one person to update wider family or work if repeating the news is too much. A simple message can say that there has been a pregnancy loss and the family needs time and privacy.
Marking the loss is optional and personal
Some people want a name, prayer, keepsake, small ritual, memorial or burial / cremation arrangement where applicable. Others do not. Meaning does not require a public ceremony.
Protect both grief and practical needs
Meals, childcare for other children, transport, time away from work and follow-up appointments can be more useful than having to host visitors.
